Car finance that moves at your speed
Buying a car is usually the most time-pressured finance decision most people make. The seller wants an answer, the good ones do not sit on the market long, and a dealership finance desk is built to close before you walk out the door. Personal car finance does not need a week of back and forth to get there. Because the loan is secured against the vehicle itself, a straightforward deal through the right lender can be approved and settled the same day.
We are a Perth-based finance broker with access to a panel of lenders, including specialist non-bank lenders who compete specifically on turnaround speed. That means we can usually match a simple deal to a fast lender, and just as importantly, tell you honestly when a deal needs more time because of the vehicle, the sale type or your own position.
What actually determines the speed
- Your credit file and income. A clean file and straightforward, verifiable income is the fastest path through any lender's approval process.
- The vehicle. A standard dealer sale on a common vehicle is quicker to assess than an unusual or high value car.
- Dealer sale versus private sale. Private sales are entirely financeable, but they involve extra checks on ownership and any existing loan the seller has against the car, which adds a step most dealer sales skip.
- How complete your information is upfront. The single biggest thing that speeds up any finance approval is giving the full picture at the start instead of in instalments.
New, used and private sale
All three are financeable. New and dealer sold used vehicles are the most straightforward. Private sales are routine too, provided the ownership is verified and any payout figure on the seller's own loan is confirmed and cleared as part of settlement. The rate and the lender can shift slightly with the age of the vehicle, but age alone rarely rules a car out.
Personal loan or business vehicle finance?
This is worth thirty seconds of thought before you apply. If the car is genuinely for personal use, a standard personal car loan applies. If it is mainly used for work by a business or a sole trader with an ABN, business vehicle finance through a chattel mortgage is usually the better structure, with different tax and cash flow treatment. Our free car finance check covers exactly this question in about two minutes, or go straight to our business vehicle finance guide if you already know the vehicle is for work.
Dealer finance versus your own broker
Dealer finance is convenient, and on a manufacturer subsidised campaign it is sometimes genuinely the sharpest rate available. The catch is that the dealership's finance desk works for the dealership, usually through one or two funders, with a rate that has commission built in and a repayment shaped to sound good rather than to suit you. Getting your own finance sorted before you walk in changes the conversation. You negotiate the car price as a cash buyer, and you compare the dealer's offer against a real alternative rather than signing whatever is put in front of you at the desk. We will tell you plainly when the dealer's rate is the one to take.
Before you sign anything
If a home purchase is anywhere in your plans over the next couple of years, the order you do things in matters. A car loan is subtracted in full from the income a home lender will assess you against, and it can cost you far more borrowing power than the car itself is worth. It is a two minute check against your numbers, covered fully on our guide to how a car loan affects your home loan. Worth five minutes before you sign, not after.
Frequently asked questions
How fast can I get approved for car finance in Perth?
Same-day approval is possible for straightforward deals through specialist lenders who prioritise turnaround speed, though not every lender or every deal qualifies. A clean credit file, stable income and a standard vehicle are the fastest path. More complex income, credit issues or an unusual vehicle can still be financed, but the timeline extends because more needs to be verified.
Can car finance settle the same day?
For simple deals through the right lender, yes. Vehicle finance is secured against the car itself, which is why it moves faster than unsecured lending. The parts that usually add time are private sale verification, payout figures on a trade-in, or a vehicle the lender needs extra information on. Tell us the deal upfront and we will tell you honestly which lane it sits in.
Do I need a deposit for car finance?
Not always. Some lenders will finance 100 percent of the purchase price for a well-qualified buyer on a standard vehicle. A deposit widens the lender panel and can improve the rate, but it is not a strict requirement across the board. What you need depends on the vehicle, your credit position and the lender that suits your deal.
Can I finance a used car or a private sale in Perth?
Yes. Dealer sold used vehicles are straightforward. Private sales are also financeable and are routine with the right lender, though they involve extra checks: ownership, encumbrance, and confirming any payout figure if the seller still owes money on the car. That verification is exactly the part a broker manages so it does not slow your settlement.
Should this be a personal car loan or business vehicle finance?
It depends on how the vehicle is actually used. If it is for personal use, a standard car loan applies. If it is genuinely for work, business vehicle finance through a chattel mortgage usually gives you a better tax and cash flow outcome, and it needs an ABN. If you are not sure which lane you are in, our car finance check covers this in about two minutes, or see our business vehicle finance guide directly.
Will a car loan affect my home loan borrowing power?
Yes, and often by more than people expect, because lenders subtract the full car repayment from the income they will assess you against for a home loan. If a home purchase is anywhere on your horizon in the next couple of years, it is worth checking the order of operations before you sign the car finance. We cover the mechanics in full on our dedicated guide to how a car loan affects your home loan.
